Dutton Ranch Finale: Episode 9 – “El Padrino”
The Dutton Ranch finale begins with Rip and Beth are overseeing the 10 Petal’s new load of cattle being unloaded. With the new information they received from ranch hand Austin, they are carefully choosing their next step.
Rob-Will drives up and tells Rip, Beth, and Austin to get off the 10 Petal property. Rip calmly tells him that Beulah hired him, so she can fire him. Rob-Will doesn’t take this response kindly, because he ordered them to leave the property again and made the mistake of calling Beth a “bitch.”
Rip turned around and punched the daylights out of him. Rob-Will attempted to fight back, but we all know that is a terrible decision. He ends up bloody on the ground and Beth grabs his ledger.
“Are you running drugs?” Rip asks him. He responds, “I’d rather die than tell you.”
Beth interjects, “Well if we find what we think we’re gonna find, you’re already a dead man.”
Rob-Will calls his mom to tell her what happened, and the audience now realizes that Beulah has been in on the drug running this entire time.
Mariano
The Dutton Ranch finale takes us to a baptism ceremony in Mexico, where we meet Mariano (Joaquin’s father and one time 10 Petal ranch hand) for the first time.
It seems he had another child, as he is holding a baby being baptized. During the celebration, he tells one of his bodyguards to gather some men because they are heading to Rio Paloma.
Mariano and his posse meet up with Joaquin at a local motel, where Joaquin catches his father up on the anniversary party, Beth and Rip’s hiring, and everything in between.
Beulah
Beulah is still recovering at Everett’s house after her heart attack and after he kisses her goodbye to go to work, she calls Joaquin to tell him about Beth and Rip’s realization.
Everett returns back home to find Beulah getting ready to leave because “something came up” back at the ranch. He tries to let her explain the drug situation, but she plays dumb.
Beulah explains to Everett that it all began because Mariano helped her get rid of a body back in the day. She told him the story of how she killed Rob-Will’s father after she found out she was pregnant.
Beulah’s father blamed Mariano for the whole thing and made a deal with him that he had to go down to Mexico and the Jackson’s would care for Joaquin. At the border, Mariano’s wife was killed. After the drought, Beulah agreed to begin running drugs to keep to ranch’s lights on. That was 15 years ago.
Everett goes in on Beulah for lying to him, hiring Beth and Rip while keeping them in the dark about her operations. And somehow, Beulah believes she is justified because she was “trying to protect” Everett, but he doesn’t fall for that. He tells her to leave.
Beulah returns home to find Mariano in her driveway. They go inside to have a conversation
“Let me be done, I’ve paid my debt back,” she tells him.
Mariano orders her to publicly reinstate Joaquin and to get rid of Beth and Rip…or he will.
Despite being told by his mother to stand down, Rob-Will calls Mariano to tell him about Beth and Rip intercepting the cattle with the drugs. Mariano tells him to meet at the motel.
Dutton Ranch
The veterinarian arrives at Dutton Ranch at Beth’s request to check out some of the new cattle that was delivered to the 10 Petal. They discover that several of them have fresh stitches, leading them to believe that drugs are inside of them. Everett pulls out what looks to be a brick of meth or fentanyl, and everyone is in complete disbelief.
Everett goes through all the cattle they brought and he ended up pulling out three big buckets full of drugs.
Because they don’t even know what they stumbled on, and knowing there is likely much more they don’t know, Beth tells Rip she needs to find Carter, who took off the evening before, to make sure he isn’t harmed by the Jackson family.
“Find our boy,” Rip tells her before she drives off to look for him.
Zachariah weighs the drugs and they have pulled out two kilos of drugs, which he estimates being worth two million dollars. Rip gives him and Azul an out, but they refuse. Knowing someone will be looking for the drugs, they are instructed to hide them well and make sure all the trail cameras are online so they know when they are about to be ambushed.
Oreana
Oreana emerges from the bathroom with a positive pregnancy test. Beth appears at the door looking for Carter, but Oreana hasn’t seen him. Beth can tell something is up with Oreana because she offers friendship. It wouldn’t be a Dutton Ranch finale without another twist!
As viewers, we knew exactly where Carter would be: Dwight’s. Oreana arrives and encourages him to call Beth just so that she knows he is okay.
Oreana and Carter decide to leave town together. She leaves to pack her things.
A Deadly Second Act
Beth shows up at the 10 Petal Slaughterhouse and forces her way in. She finds nothing. Literally. Tommy, one of the ranch hands, appeared and told Beth to leave, and she replied, asking where Beulah was. Both repeated themselves before Tommy grabbed her wrist to try to forcefully remove her.
“Oh, you’re gonna regret that,” she told him.
As Tommy turns to guide Beth out, Rip punched him so hard he collapsed to the ground. Rip drags him into the warehouse where he hangs him by the belt loop.
Zachariah calls to tell Beth and Rip that Beulah showed up at Dutton Ranch, and they rush home to speak to her. When they pull up, Beth pulls a rifle on her.
Rip, Beth, and Beulah head inside to talk while Azul and Zachariah load up all the drugs into her car. Beulah tells her side of the story and admits that Beth and Rip were her way out of the situation, and had hoped they wouldn’t find out about the drugs before she had retired.

Azul spots Mariano’s six men on the trail camera so they know which way they are coming from. Zachariah shoots at them first and takes one man down. In the firefight, Azul gets grazed in the shoulder. Zachariah takes down another, and Everett does the same. Rip takes down two more.
One man runs away injured and Rip goes after him in his truck, but he doesn’t kill him. After the firefight is over, they load up all the bodies in Rip’s truck.
Rob-Will arrives at the 10 Petal mansion and leaves his phone on a table while his mother is trying to get ahold of him. Meanwhile, Joaquin is waiting in his car outside contemplating how he will complete his father’s order.
Rob-Will walks in on Oreana packing and they share a heart to heart about their relationship. He said always thought he had more time to make things right with her, but now he knows that time doesn’t heal anything.
“You are the only thing in this house that ain’t crooked. The only thing I ever did right,” he tells her.

Their moment was interrupted by a knock at the front door, which Rob-Will goes to answer. Oreana makes sure everything is okay. her father replies that it is, even though as viewers, we know it’s not.
As she is packing her curling irons, she hears a gunshot and runs downstairs to find her father shot in the head. She looks up to see Joaquin’s car driving away in between screaming in grief.

All while this is happening, Mariano is at a bar. In the middle of his drink, he is told about the outcome of his mens’ ambush on Beth and Rip and he springs into action.
Beulah returns home to find Oreana crying over Rob-Will’s body in the foyer. She is in absolute shock. Moments later, Joaquin pulls over to the side of the road and seems to be starting to have a panic attack. Tears in his eyes, he looks over at the gun in his front seat and it seems like he is contemplating using it again.
Everett and Beth are cleaning up bullet casings and blood at Dutton Ranch. Beth reveals to him that too many times, she’s had a feeling that the world was going to take everything from her, and she’s always been right.
Rip has tied up the one surviving member of Mariano’s muscle and is trying to torture information out of him. However, he isn’t afraid of death because he is protected by the Saint of Death in his afterlife.
Carter is finishing up packing his things at Dwight’s house when Beth tries to call him again. Instead, he opens the door when he hears a vehicle pull up thinking it is Oreana. Instead, it is Mariano’s men, who knock him unconscious and kidnap him.
Everett opens up to Beth about his son, who died when he was just 14 years old when she receives a call from Mariano, who tells her that he has Carter.
Beth runs to Rip with an emotion in her voice we rarely hear to tell him.
“They don’t want Carter. They want us,” Rip says.
“Then they’re gonna fucking get us,” Beth replies with vengeance.
And there, Season One ends. Thankfully, the show has already been picked up for a second season, and we believe fans will be thrilled that Beth and Rip are back on a warpath together. We have so many questions we need answers to.
How will they get Carter back? Will Joaquin survive the guilt of killing his brother? Will Oreana and her unborn baby be okay? And that’s only the start.
