Pawn Stars star Rick Harrison has been hospitalized following emergency bypass surgery.
A spokesperson for the Harrison family confirmed to PEOPLE on Friday (September 4), that the 61-year-old underwent surgery after being admitted to the hospital for what was initially expected to be a minor procedure.
“He went in for a simpler procedure and they found he needed a bypass,” the spokesperson said. “He is resting comfortably and looking forward to a full recovery. He is grateful for the doctors and staff at the hospital and that his wife and family can be with him during this time.”
Harrison and his new wife, Angie Polushkin, were married back in January at Las Vegas’ Little White Chapel. The couple later held an intimate celebration at Harrison’s barbecue restaurant, Rick’s Rollin Smoke BBQ & Tavern, located nearby his Gold & Silver Pawn Shop featured on the History Channel’s Pawn Stars.

Harrison entered the pawn business at just 13 years old and later partnered with his father, Richard “The Old Man” Harrison, to open the shop in 1988.
When Pawn Stars premiered in 2009, he quickly became one of the show’s central figures, earning the nickname “The Spotter” for his ability to recognize valuable items. Harrison’s extensive knowledge of history and collectibles helped make him a fan favorite as he negotiated deals with customers alongside his father, son Corey Harrison and longtime employee Chumlee.
The Gold & Silver Pawn Shop remains closely associated with the Pawn Stars franchise and continues to attract customers and fans visiting Las Vegas.
