Some of country music’s biggest stars are among those mourning the death of NASCAR’s Kyle Busch.
On Thursday morning (May 21st), the Busch family released a statement announcing that “Kyle has experienced a severe illness resulting in hospitalization.“
The news came 11 days after Kyle was “suffering from a sinus cold” during a race at Watkins Glen International. Audio from Kyle’s mid-race radio call to his team recorded him asking for a doctor to come to his bus after the race, saying he needed “a shot.”
It remains unknown if the “sinus cold” was the same “severe illness” that resulted in Kyle’s hospitalization.

Unfortunately, later on May 21st, NASCAR, the Busch family, and Kyle Busch’s team, Richard Childress Racing, announced that he had passed away at the age of 41. He celebrated his birthday just 19 days before his passing.
Kyle’s two children, Brexton and Lennix, whom he shared with his wife of 15 years, Samantha, also celebrated their birthdays in May.
NASCAR fans were left in tears when they realized that the last post Kyle ever shared on social media was for his son Brexton’s 11th birthday on May 18th.

Tributes Pour In From Country Artists Remembering Kyle Busch
Naturally, many members of the NASCAR community have paid tribute to Kyle Busch following his passing. But his influence traveled well beyond the racing world.
Tributes have been pouring in from country music artists as well. Blake Shelton shared a post on his Instagram Story that read:
“Man I am so shocked and sad to hear about Kyle Busch passing away. First met him when he was 20 years old. What a legend. Prayers to his family.”

Dierks Bentley also paused to pay tribute to Kyle Busch. He shared two posts on his Instagram Story, revealing that he had just seen Kyle and his wife, Samantha, two weeks ago.
On the second image, which shows Dierks and Kyle smiling as they chatted, Dierks wrote, “Just a couple of dads talking about their kids.”

Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox shared a powerful tribute to Kyle on Instagram, writing:
“RIP my friend. You have driven on every track on the planet except the new one that you can drive on now. I’m not sure if there’s even corners on tracks of gold, but I hope u enjoy going as fast as you want to and U Win EVERYDAY FOR ETERNITY!!!!!“

Gavin Adcock was especially shocked to learn about Kyle’s death. The day prior (May 20th), he played at Kyle and Samantha’s “Fast Cars and Guitars” charity event at The Fillmore Charlotte.
The event benefited the couple’s Bundle of Joy Fund, which “is dedicated to advancing access to IVF care and coverage, increasing awareness, and providing support so others don’t have to navigate infertility alone.”
Kyle and Samantha battled infertility for over a decade before welcoming their two children: Brexton and Lennix.
After hearing about Kyle’s death, Gavin Adcock wrote, “Played him and his wife’s charity event last night in Charolette [sic] and am truly at a loss for words. Rip legend.”

Brantley Gilbert and Cole Swindell shared simple but powerful tributes to Kyle on their Instagram Stories.
Brantley posted a photo of him and Kyle together on the red carpet at the 2025 CMA Awards, writing, “Rest in peace my friend. You will be deeply missed.”
Cole said, “Heartbroken over this news. Don’t wanna believe it. Praying for the Busch family.”
See both of their tributes below.

Our prayers are with Kyle Busch’s family and friends during this difficult time…
