When it came time to propose, Cody Johnson knew there was no place more romantic than their local Texas Roadhouse.

Johnson and his wife, Brandi, have been married since 2008, and their love story actually began many years before that.

The couple first crossed paths as teenagers, when Cody was performing at a Future Farmers of America event. He was 17 at the time, and she was 14.

Nothing came of it then, but four years later, fate stepped in, and they ran into each other at a bar in Huntsville, Alabama.

That’s when they had the chance to really get to know each other. Cody ended up asking Brandi for her number, and as they say, the rest was history.

So how did Cody propose to the love of his life? In a recent interview with Coyote Cowboy, he shared the special moment took place at their local Texas Roadhouse… but it’s actually more romantic than you might think.

“This might be really cheesy,” Cody admits. “On our first date, I took her to a Texas Roadhouse here locally, and we sat in a booth and I was just so in love, and I could not wait to make her my wife. A year later to the date, we parked in the same spot, went to the same booth.”

And no, before you start picturing him sneaking the ring into one of those famous honey-cinnamon butter rolls, Cody didn’t go that route.

Instead, he waited until they were leaving the restaurant and popped the question in the parking lot.

“When we walked back out to the truck to leave, I got on a knee and asked her to marry me, and it was pretty special.”

Fast forward to today, and the pair has built a wonderful life together.

They’ve welcomed three children over the years: daughters Clara Mae (10) and Cori (8), and most recently, a baby boy named Jaycee, who was born in October.
