Ashley Flynn Was Killed In Her Home In February
37-year-old mother, teacher, and volleyball coach, Ashley Flynn, was murdered in her Tipp City, Ohio home in February of this year. Her husband, former American Idol contestant Caleb Flynn, called 911 after he reportedly found her body on February 16. Caleb claimed there had been a home invasion.
Tipp City Police Chief Greg Adkins later confirmed that Ashley died from a gunshot wound. Despite the violent nature of her death, Chief Adkins expressed the belief that it was “a targeted incident” and the community didn’t appear to be in danger.
Then, on February 19, authorities arrested Caleb in connection with Ashley’s murder.
Chief Adkins released a statement following Caleb’s arrest, saying:
“[The authorities] have spent countless hours utilizing numerous resources to bring the investigation to this point. Their work is not complete, and they will continue to pursue this case with integrity and dedication as it proceeds through the court process.”
Ashley’s family also released a statement about Caleb’s arrest. They told FOX News:
“Our family believes this arrest was made carefully and not without serious consideration. After speaking with both local police and federal authorities, we trust the proper steps were taken, and the process is being handled appropriately.”
After Caleb’s arrest, Ashley’s family canceled her public celebration of life service and chose to host a private funeral instead.
Caleb Flynn Indicted On 11 Counts In Relation To Wife Ashley’s Murder
A new update in Ashley Flynn’s murder case arrived on Wednesday, March 18, when Caleb Flynn was indicted by a grand jury.
WKEF out of Dayton, Ohio, reports that the Miami County Grand Jury indicted Caleb on a total of 11 charges. Those charges include:
- 1 count of Aggravated Murder
- 3 counts of Murder
- 2 counts of Felonious Assault
- 3 counts of Tampering with Evidence
- 2 counts of Intimidation of an Attorney, Victim or Witness in a Criminal Case
According to Miami County Prosecutor Paul Watkins, if Caleb is convicted, he will face a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Dayton Daily News reports that Caleb’s arraignment will occur in the Miami County Common Pleas Court on Thursday (March 19). His attorney, L. Patrick Mulligan, said, “We are looking forward to defending this case. We will be entering a not guilty plea tomorrow at the arraignment.”
A GoFundMe fundraiser hopes to help Ashley Flynn’s two young daughters in the wake of her murder. The fundraiser has already raised nearly $175,000 at the time of this writing.
Ashley’s friend, Jon Crawford, who started the GoFundMe, wrote, “Thank you for loving this family so well. Please continue to lift up her two daughters and the entire family in prayer.“
