MONIQUE Tepe’s ex-partner has been arrested and charged in the horror double murder that left her and her dentist husband shot dead in their Ohio home, court records show.
The suspect, identified in records as Michael David McKee, was taken into custody on Saturday in the Chicago area.
Columbus, Ohio, officials previously said officers were called to a home in the Weinland Park neighborhood at around 10 am on December 30.
Inside, police found Spencer Tepe, 37, and Monique Tepe, 39, both dead from gunshot wounds, officials said.
Records identify the arrested suspect as Michael David McKee.
McKee is Monique Tepe’s ex-husband, according to the same records.
The arrest came weeks after investigators began probing the couple’s deaths, which were reported after the December 30 response.
Alarm was sparked when Spencer didn’t show up to work at Athens Dental Depot, with owner Mark Valrose calling 911 because it was unlike him to miss work and he hadn’t called ahead, as reported by WSYX-TV.
A friend then raced to the home and called 911, saying he could hear children inside the property.
In a second call, the friend reported seeing a body and told dispatchers: “We just came here and he appears dead. He’s laying next to his bed, off of his bed in this blood.”
“I can tell he’s obviously not breathing or anything,” the caller added.
The couple’s young children were unharmed, as was their pet dog, and police said they quickly ruled out a murder-suicide.
Investigators believe Spencer and Monique were killed between 2 am and 5 am on December 30, and they said there were no signs of forced entry, and the weapon has not been found.
Police also released eerie surveillance video showing a figure near the Tepe family home in the early hours, identified as a person of interest, but that person has not been charged.
Months before the killings, a separate 911 incident was logged from the same address on April 15, according to audio released by Fox News.
After the caller reportedly hung up, an operator called back and said it sounded as if the woman was crying, before she apologized and told dispatchers: “Because me and my man got into it, but I’m OK, I promise.”
Asked if any violence happened, the woman said: “No,” and when pressed again — “You guys were just arguing, nobody hit each other?” — she replied: “Mhm, yes,” with the call categorized as a “domestic dispute,” and dispatchers noting there wasn’t any need for assistance.
Authorities had previously released surveillance footage of a person of interest seen near the home that morning, but with McKee now arrested, police have not disclosed further details about the case or the alleged motive.
