Reba McEntire Shares The Reason Why She & Rex Linn Have Postponed Their Wedding

It’s going to be a while before Reba McEntire and Rex Linn officially say “I do.”
Reba McEntire and her longtime partner Rex Linn announced their engagement in September while attending the Primetime Emmy Awards. Reba confirmed the exciting news during a red carpet interview.
Later on, it was revealed that they had actually been engaged for several months before letting everyone know. Rex originally proposed on Christmas Eve 2024.
They decided to keep the news private for a very touching reason, though.
Just days after, the Los Angeles wildfire happened, and they felt it wasn’t right to celebrate when something so tragic was going on.
“We were going to make the announcement when we got back to L.A. in January, and the fires happened. It wasn’t appropriate,” Reba told PEOPLE back in October.
“The time never presented itself until the Emmys, when it just happened,” she added.

Now that enough time has passed, they’ve been more open about their upcoming wedding… or rather, the lack of one. The couple isn’t in a rush and hasn’t even set a date yet.
Reba Reveals That She And Rex Have Pushed Their Wedding Back
Reba recently spoke about the topic in an interview with E! News on the red carpet at the 2026 Grammy Awards. When asked about wedding planning, she shared where they currently stand.
“Rex got picked up on ‘Stick’ with Owen Wilson, so that kind of pushed the wedding back,” Reba shared.
“He says, ‘Work comes first,’ she added.
Both Reba and Rex feel the same way about putting their careers first for now. After all, they definitely have a lot on their plates already.
The two star together in Happy’s Place, which is currently in its second season, with a third season yet to be confirmed.
With Rex now filming a new show, it makes sense to keep the wedding on the back burner so they can focus fully on their work.
One thing is for sure, though: Rex and Reba will never be too busy to support each other. Rex attended the Grammys as Reba’s date and was in the audience watching his country star fiancée perform on the Grammy stage for the first time.

During the night, Reba led an emotional “In Memoriam” tribute honoring those in the music industry who passed away over the last year.
