John Foster Leads The Opry In Singing “How Great Thou Art,” Thanking God For All He’s Done In His Life

“The really cool thing about country, to me, and the reason that I love it so much — the reason I’m going to dedicate my entire life to it — is because it goes hand in hand with so many real human experiences, and it also goes hand in hand with our faith. George Strait had a great song, ‘God and Country Music,’ and I think, actually, the Grand Ole Opry is a great place to intersect the two, you know? ‘Cause they’re very closely related. They’re all about truth, they’re all about honesty, they’re all about love. No matter what you’re sing about, somewhere it’s going to trace back to love.”

Noting that he sang “How Great Thou Art” during his Opry debut in June of 2025, Foster then added, “I figured, now, for my 11th show at the Grand Ole Opry, it’s fitting to go back to my roots and sing this song as a dedication and a thank you to God for putting me where I’m at.”

“I really hope y’all sing it with me tonight,” said John Foster. “I know y’all know it, don’t act like you don’t.”

He then began playing his acoustic guitar, gently picking as he began singing “How Great Thou Art.”
