Prime Video Releases Trailer For Upcoming Film About An NFL Legend
In the upcoming biographical film about legendary NFL coach John Madden, Nicolas Cage is nearly unrecognizable in his portrayal of the iconic figure.
Prime Video released a teaser for Madden on Thursday (December 25) presenting Cage, 60, in a transformative role that chronicles Madden’s career, from his tenure as head coach of the Oakland Raiders to his subsequent prominence in his business ventures.
The production also reportedly features performances by Christian Bale, John Mulaney, Kathryn Hahn, Sienna Miller, and Shane Gillis. Bale is set to play the late Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis in the movie.
Who Was John Madden?
Madden was a legendary figure in the National Football League (NFL), most well-known for his achievements as a coach and broadcaster, as well as his magnetic personality and knowledge of the game.
He led the Oakland Raiders to a Super Bowl victory and retired with one of the highest winning percentages in NFL history. Following his time coaching, Madden became a beloved commentator within the football world.
The former coach has also lent his name to the hugely popular “Madden NFL” video game series, one of the best-selling and longest-running sports franchises of its kind.
Madden died unexpectedly at the age of 85 on December 28, 2021.
Madden Set To Release Thanksgiving 2026
Madden, written and directed by David O. Russell, “follows Madden’s remarkable journey — from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history,” PEOPLE reported.
