Kelly Clarkson Entertains Sold-Out Crowd At RodeoHouston
On Saturday (March 14), Kelly Clarkson performed for a sold-out crowd at NRG Stadium during RodeoHouston. CultureMap Houston reports that 70,007 people attended her show.
Clarkson, a Texas native, first performed at RodeoHouston in 2004, just two years after she won American Idol. That was also the last time she sang during the famous event, so fans waited 22 years to witness Saturday’s show.
Clarkson’s performance was well worth the wait. She packed her set with her signature hits, including “Breakaway,” “Since U Been Gone,” “Because of You,” and “Behind These Hazel Eyes.”
Everyone sang along throughout the entire show, especially when Clarkson performed “Since You Been Gone.” One TikTok user who uploaded a video of Clarkson’s performance said “the whole stadium [lost] it” when she launched into the song.

Clarkson also delivered a solo rendition of “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” the duet she released with Jason Aldean in 2010. The track was a #1 hit on the Hot Country Songs chart and has been certified Double Platinum by the RIAA.
When Clarkson performed the song solo at RodeoHouston this year, she joked, “This is the solo, incredibly sad version of ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay.’ Apparently, they didn’t, ‘cause it’s just me!“

A Little “Kellyoke” Moment Involved A Tanya Tucker Cover
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Kelly Clarkson concert without a little “Kellyoke.” That’s the name Clarkson uses for a popular segment on her talk show, during which she performs covers of other artists’ songs.
Clarkson only included one “Kellyoke” cover in her RodeoHouston set, and she kept it country. She shared her spin on Tanya Tucker’s classic hit, “It’s a Little Too Late.”
Tucker, another Texas native, released “It’s a Little Too Late” in 1993. It peaked at #2 on the Hot Country Songs chart, where it was surpassed by fellow Texan George Strait‘s “Heartland” in the #1 spot.
The RodeoHouston audience found themselves thoroughly entertained by Clarkson’s cover of “It’s a Little Too Late.” She tapped deep into her country side during the lively performance, which also featured plenty of fiddle and an upbeat guitar solo.
“She is a Queen she can sing it all the show was Awesome!” one fan commented on a TikTok video of Clarkson signing “It’s a Little Too Late.”
Another fan agreed, writing, “Omggg My Queen!!! Yesssss AMAZING!!!“
