A winter storm tore through the U.S. in late January. States and areas unfamiliar with harsh winter weather experienced ice, heavy snow, and frigid temperatures.
Hundreds of thousands lost power in the storm. While workers restored power in some areas, Reuters reports that nationwide, over 296,000 customers remain without electricity.
Sadly, many lost their lives as a result of the storm. USA Today reports over 60 deaths nationwide, with eight of those deaths occurring in Louisiana.
Duck Dynasty Star Uncle Si Thanks Those Working To Restore Power And Help Others After The Winter Storm
After seeing the workers who jumped into action to help in the storm’s aftermath, Uncle Si wanted to share his appreciation.
“The South is not made for stuff like this,” Si said in his video. “…It’s been tough, boys. And like, hey, you guys out there working in this cold weather and all…these [power] lines down…you are loved and appreciated. Alright? Don’t ever forget that.”
Si’s gratitude carried over into the video’s caption, which read, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the linemen, first responders, and everyone else looking out for each other. I love you and appreciate you!“
Uncle Si’s followers joined in sharing messages of gratitude in the comments, writing:
“It’s not an easy job when the weather gets bad! Our boys in Alaska are rock stars.”
“Uncle Si, thank you for seeing and saying the right thing!!!“
“We love you here in WV too! Thanks for keeping everyone warm and the roads clear!“
“Amen stay warm out there everyone.“

Other Robertson family members also spoke about the recent winter storm. Korie Robertson, who married Si’s nephew, Willie, said they lost power for several days.
“Everyone is hunkering down and helping wherever they can. Willie went for gas and said there were so many people offering to help. It’s beautiful to see how a disaster can bring people together.”
Korie also expressed her thanks “for the electrical workers and everyone handling the many emergencies happening right now.”
Additionally, Missy Robertson, the wife of Si’s nephew, Jase, said they entered their fifth day without electricity. Still, they dedicated their time to helping others in need. Jase spent one day sawing downed trees across their road so cars could finally drive through.
“…folks are working together to help each other through this,” Missy wrote. “There is a difference in suffering and being inconvenienced…We are inconvenienced. So so many are suffering! Please pray for our community to stay warm and fed.”
