Secret Service kills armed man at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago after he broke through security perimeter

Secret Service Announces A Man Was Killed After Entering Mar-A-Lago

An armed man was killed after entering President Donald Trump‘s Mar-a-Lago property.

The Secret Service announced on Sunday morning (February 22) that an armed man was shot and killed by Secret Service agents and a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy after entering the property around 1:30 AM. The Secret Service said the man was “observed by the north gate of the Mar-a-Lago property carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can.

The Associated Press quotes Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, who said:

“[The man] was ordered to drop those two pieces of equipment that he had with them. At which time he put down the gas can, [and] raised the shotgun to a shooting position.”

He said at that point, the Secret Service agents and sheriff’s deputy “fired their weapons to neutralize the threat.”

The Associated Press also cites Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, who says the man drove into Mar-a-Lago’s secure perimeter as another vehicle left the property.

Although the armed man’s identity has not been released at the time of this writing, we do know a few details about him. Guglielmi stated that the intruder was a man in his early 20s. He was from North Carolina, and his family reported him missing a few days ago. Authorities are still investigating the motive for his actions.
Mar-a-Lago is President Trump’s residence and private club in Palm Beach, Florida. He often spends his weekends at the residence. However, The Guardian reports he was at the White House, not at Mar-a-Lago, this weekend. He has not released a statement about the incident as of press time.

This is a developing story…
