Police Believe Savannah Guthrie’s Mother, Nancy, May Have Been Abducted
TODAY host Savannah Guthrie shared an emotional plea on social media on Monday (January 2) amid the search for her missing mother, Nancy.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills of Arizona on Saturday (January 31) at 9:30 PM. When she didn’t attend church on Sunday (February 1), a friend grew concerned and contacted one of Nancy’s children. That child visited Nancy’s home, realized they needed help, and called 911. Nancy was reported missing that same day.
Nancy Guthrie is 84 years old, with brown hair and blue eyes. She is of sound mind, by has some physical problems due to her age that make it challenging for her to “move around.”
Sheriff Chris Nanos of Pima County held a press conference on Sunday evening. He didn’t share many specifics, but said what they found inside Nancy’s home raised “grave concern.”
Sheriff Nanos held another press conference on Monday morning (February 2). He restated that authorities found some concerning things in Nancy’s home.
“We’re asking for the community’s help,” he said. “So, we make a plea to anyone who knows anything about it. Who has seen something, heard something, to contact us, to call 911. We don’t need another bad, tragic ending. We need some help.”
Unfortunately, a distressing update came from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department later on Monday. A spokesperson for the department told Fox News Digital that Sheriff Nanos believes a crime has been committed.
“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction.”
Savannah Guthrie Asks For Prayers, Says “Bring Her Home”
Savannah Guthrie did not appear on the TODAY Show on Monday morning, although she did provide a statement to the program about her mother.
“Oh behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support,” she said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at: 520-351-4900.”
Later on Monday, Savannah took to social media with a passionate plea. She started by thanking everyone who’s praying for her, her mother, and her family.
Savannah paired her message with a simple image that read, “Please Pray.”
“we believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him.
“thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”
She added, “we need you.”
The note ended with the plea, “Bring her home.”
Savannah received a flood of comments, with people such as Little Big Town‘s Karen Fairchild, Lindsey Vonn, Jenna Bush Hager, Erin Andrews, and Bobby Flay sharing their prayers for her and Nancy. We too, join them all in praying for Nancy’s safe return.
