Miranda Lambert Releases “Two Things Can Be True,” a Patsy Cline-Inspired Heartbreaker
Miranda Lambert is going back to classic country heartbreak with her latest song, “Two Things Can Be True.”
Released September 18, the song is the newest preview of Lambert’s upcoming album Crisco, arriving October 2 through MCA. With lush strings, dreamy steel guitar and Lambert’s warm lower register, the track leans into an old-school country sound inspired by the legendary Patsy Cline.
Miranda Lambert Embraces Classic Country
“Two Things Can Be True” explores the complicated emotions of watching a relationship fall apart while still being unable to let go.
The song centers on a narrator who knows her partner is falling for someone else, yet still feels connected to the relationship.
Lambert said the song is currently one of her favorites on the album.
She also described the track as feeling almost like singing a duet with the steel guitar and strings, while pointing to its old-school Patsy Cline feeling.
That influence gives the song a very different character from some of the more upbeat material Lambert has previewed from Crisco.
A Song About a Love That Is Slipping Away
At the heart of “Two Things Can Be True” is a simple but painful idea.
A person can understand that a relationship is ending while still loving the person involved.

Miranda Lambert Is Entering a New Chapter
