Lainey Wilson Joins Vince Gill For Vivacious New Duet, “Down At The Borderline”
Vince Gill Releases Fourth EP In Year-Long Series
Vince Gill invited reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson to serve as his duet partner on a new song, “Down at the Borderline.”
Down at the Borderline is the fourth in Gill’s year-long series of EPs. In October, he signed a lifetime record deal with MCA Records, his label for 37 years.
As part of that deal, Gill plans to release a new EP every month for a year. The series is titled 50 Years from Home, a nod to the 50th anniversary of Gill’s move from Oklahoma to pursue his career.
The first EP in the series, I Gave You Everything I Had, includes an extended version of Gill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain.” Gill released the new recording, which features an extra verse he previously only played live, in September, a month before the EP.
Lainey Wilson joined Gill at the Primetime Emmy Awards to sing “Go Rest High” during the “In Memoriam” segment. The tribute honored stars who passed away in the past year, including Phil Robertson, Gene Hackman, Ozzy Osbourne, and Lulu Roman.
Cosby Show star Phylicia Rashad introduced the segment in memory of her co-star, Malcom Jamal-Warner. He died on July 20, 2025.

Gill and Wilson reunited at the Grand Ole Opry in January. They joined forces to sing Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” to celebrate her 80th birthday.
After singing together multiple times, Gill and Wilson now have a collaboration of their own. Their new duet, “Down at the Borderline,” was released on Gill’s EP of the same title on Friday, February 13.
“Down at the Borderline” is spirited and vivacious, with a fast-paced rhythm and plenty of fiddle-driven instrumental breaks. Gill takes the lead on the song, while Wilson chimes in to offer harmonies.
The twangy song mentions Wilson’s home state of Louisiana, making her inclusion all the more perfect. It’s a country collaboration that fans of both artists are sure to enjoy!
