Jelly Roll Gets Real About “Losing His Way” On His Weight Loss Journey
After losing more than 250 lbs, Jelly Roll has faced a setback.
Over the last three years, the Tennessee native has been dedicated to improving his physical health. Through diet and exercise, as well as working with a professional to address his food addiction, he has transformed dramatically.
He met milestone after milestone, each more ambitious than the last. In December 2024, while still weighing more than 400 lbs, he publicly set the bold goal to be on the cover of Men’s Health by March 2026.
Despite the odds, he met that goal ahead of schedule and was featured on the cover of the January 2026 issue of the magazine. It was after this point, he says, “the game gets a little ugly.”
In a new vlog, Jelly shares that after working so hard, he wanted to indulge over the holidays. Additionally, he broke his collarbone just before Christmas, forcing him to take time off from working out. The combination of these things derailed him, and he admits:
“I have, to some degree, lost my way.”

Stepping On The Scale
Jelly Roll says he is still about “40 to 50 pounds” away from his goal weight, a number which he has not specifically revealed. On Friday, April 10th, he stepped on the scale for the first time in a while.
The recent Opry member weighed roughly 540 lbs at his heaviest and was down to 265 when he shot the Men’s Health cover. He admits that he was “scared” to see the number, but that “avoiding weighing in has been the problem.”
The scale showed his current weight is 276.2 lbs, up roughly 12 lbs from his lowest weight.

Jelly Roll Reveals Ambitious New Fitness Goal
Something was sparked in Jelly Roll after completing his first 5k in May 2024. He returned to the same race the following year and has now set his sights on longer distances.
The “Son of a Sinner” singer had plans to run a half-marathon earlier this year, but was unable to due to the collarbone injury. Now, he is training for the New York City Marathon in November!
Completing a 26.2-mile race is a feat that approximately only 0.5% of adults in the U.S. will complete in a lifetime. Jelly admits, training for a marathon is “different.” He has enlisted the help of a coach and promises to document the journey along the way.
