Following her emotional victory on American Idol, Harper shared a heartfelt message with fans, admitting she “can’t watch this without sobbing” as she reflected on her unforgettable journey.
Her win marks a historic milestone, as she becomes the first female country artist to win American Idol since Carrie Underwood nearly 20 years ago.
“We Did It”
In her emotional statement, Harper made it clear that the victory was not hers alone.
“Because of every single person who voted, prayed, shared a post, sent encouragement, and believed in me when this all felt impossible. This win isn’t just mine, it belongs to all of us.”

A Historic Moment for Country Music
Harper’s victory is already being celebrated as a major moment for country music fans, especially given the legacy left behind by Carrie Underwood’s iconic American Idol win two decades ago.
Now, with millions of viewers supporting her and a rapidly growing fanbase, Hannah Harper’s career is only just beginning.
And judging by the emotion in her message, she has no plans of forgetting the people who helped her get there.
Hannah Harper Is Full Of Joy & Gratitude After Winning Season 24 Of “American Idol”
On Monday (May 11th), American Idol announced that Hannah Harper was the winner of Season 24! Jordan McCullough was named the runner-up of the season, followed by Keyla Richardson in third place.
Harper, a 25-year-old mother of three sons, immediately connected with viewers. She performed an original song during the auditions, called “String Cheese,” which she wrote after struggling with postpartum depression.
Her song moved judge Carrie Underwood to tears, prompting her to say:
“You might be my favorite person that’s walked through those doors. You’re gorgeous. You look famous already. I just think you have a beautiful simplicity to your voice. You’re one that I’m gonna think about when we leave here…I feel like I’m just gonna be rooting for you. I loved everything about everything you do.“
Harper’s audition went viral, making her a clear frontrunner from the start of the season.
Harper’s performances continued to resonate with viewers throughout the season. Now that she’s an Idol winner, she is overwhelmed with gratitude for those who supported her throughout her journey.
“I mean, I didn’t get here myself,” she told Entertainment Tonight’sCassie DiLaura in a post-win interview. “It was all the voters, all the people out there who believed in me. And I just…it was insane. It’s all overwhelming, but I’m so appreciative. And I just can’t believe that. I mean, God opened the door, and I just kept running, and we’re still here, and it’s nuts.”
Carrie Underwood Offered To Help Hannah Harper With “Juggling” Fame & Motherhood
When asked what she thought about being the first female country artist to win American Idol since Carrie Underwood in 2005, Harper made it clear how shocked she was. “I didn’t know that until tonight, that blows my mind,” she told DiLaura.
Underwood brought things full circle by joining the judges’ panel on Idol last year (2025), 20 years after she won the show’s 4th season. She and Harper got the chance to chat “for like 5 seconds” at the end of the finale, and she extended a sweet offer to the show’s new champion.
“…she was more so like…I know life with babies…let me know if you need anything. I’ll give you all the tips and tricks. I was like, girl, I need all of it,” Harper revealed.
Underwood shares two sons, Isaiah (age 11) and Jacob (age 7), with her husband, former NHL star Mike Fisher.
DiLaura also spoke to Underwood after the finale. The Idol judge confirmed that she told Harper to reach out to her anytime:
“I was like…we need to get each other’s number…I am so excited to see what you do,” Underwood recalled. “I can help you with, like, the mom juggling that is going to happen.“
In response, Harper said, “…knowing that I can call Carrie and be like, ‘Hey, I need help with something.’ Like that’s insane.”
