The second single from his 23rd studio album, “She Let Herself Go” earned its No. 1 spot as a “clever breakup tale.”
Continuing on his path of phenomenal success, George Strait has continued to release new records like clockwork since his debut in 1981 – almost every one of them being certified Platinum by the RIAA.
His 2005 hit, “She Let Herself Go” reached the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs within just four months of its release. It puts an interesting spin on the classic country theme of breakups and focuses on a woman who has just lost her male lover.
While her former lover assumes she will “let herself go”, the song gives a new meaning to the phrase by stating she “let herself go” on vacations, outings, and do things that he had never allowed her to do. It mentions a spa in New York, a singles cruise, and a trip to the beach.
The album his single is drawn from hit the No. 1 chart position in both the U.S. and Canada and was followed by another successful project by “The King of Country”, It Just Comes Natural in October 2006.
