George Strait’s Rare 1958 Corvette Is Heading To Auction
Country music fans and classic car collectors have a rare opportunity to own a piece of George Strait’s history.
A 1958 Chevrolet Corvette previously owned by the country music legend is heading to auction. The vintage convertible stands out not only for its classic design but also for its documented connection to the man known as the King of Country.
The car is finished in striking Signet Red, with a matching red interior. It also comes with historical documents and memorabilia connected to its former owner.
Documents Confirm George Strait’s Ownership
The Corvette was reportedly in George Strait’s possession during the late 1980s.
Documents connected to the vehicle include an insurance card showing coverage for George and his wife, Norma Strait, from 1987 to 1988. A vehicle registration receipt from 1989 also carries George Strait’s name.
These records give collectors an important piece of the car’s history.
The Corvette later attracted attention from classic car enthusiasts when it was displayed at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It appeared there from November 2012 through January 2013.

A Classic Corvette With Rare Features
The 1958 Chevrolet Corvette marked an important year for the iconic sports car.
It was the first model year to feature four headlights. Chevrolet also gave the car a more aggressive look, with extensive chrome details, a distinctive grille and a louvered hood.
Only 9,168 Corvettes were produced for the 1958 model year, adding to the car’s appeal among collectors.
This particular convertible features a 283-cubic-inch V8 engine rated at 245 horsepower. It is paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
The Signet Red exterior is matched with a red leather interior. Other features include bucket seats, a heater and electric windshield wipers.

Memorabilia Will Accompany The Car
The sale includes more than the Corvette itself.
The buyer is also expected to receive memorabilia related to the vehicle’s ownership history. Items include photographs, articles and other historical material.
For collectors, these details can make a vintage vehicle even more meaningful. The connection to George Strait adds another layer of interest to an already recognizable classic car.
When Will George Strait’s Corvette Be Auctioned?
The Corvette is scheduled to be offered during a GAA Classic Cars auction in Greensboro, North Carolina, in November 2026.
The sale gives one lucky buyer the chance to own a classic American sports car with a documented connection to one of country music’s biggest stars.
For George Strait fans, the appeal goes beyond the car’s age, color or performance. It is an opportunity to own a small piece of the King of Country’s personal history.
