Country singer Chase Matthew has shared one of the most personal and emotional messages of his career, revealing that he wrote a new song inspired by one of the darkest chapters of his life.
In a heartfelt post, Matthew admitted there was a time when he felt completely lost, struggling with his mental health and questioning his own worth. He said he was simply going through the motions each day, feeling empty, unfulfilled, and trapped in a cycle that seemed impossible to escape.
“I wrote this song about one of the lowest points of my life,” Matthew shared. “At that time I was so low that I didn’t care to see another day. I was just going through the motions.”
The country star explained that he spent years investing his time in the wrong things and often felt like he was battling himself. Looking in the mirror, he constantly compared himself to others and believed something was fundamentally wrong with him.
Matthew said everything changed on April 13, 2025, while he was deciding whether to remain in Las Vegas for another day or return to Nashville to attend a concert by Christian artist Forrest Frank.
Although he admitted the temptation to stay in Las Vegas was strong, he ultimately chose to fly home—a decision he now describes as life-changing.
According to Matthew, attending Forrest Frank’s concert became a turning point in his life.
“I had an awakening that night from God. No words. Just tears,” he wrote. “All of the shame and pain that I had been holding onto, God took it from me that night.”
Matthew said he believes that choosing to honor God instead of giving in to temporary pleasures completely changed his perspective and marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
His honest testimony has resonated with thousands of fans, many of whom have thanked him for speaking openly about mental health, faith, and the power of making positive choices during life’s darkest moments.
