Charles Kelley, the lead singer of Lady A, has revealed that he is facing a difficult new chapter after being diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer.

The 45-year-old country singer shared the news with fans on Tuesday, September 29, in a video alongside his wife, Cassie.
Kelley explained that several unexpected rib fractures led his doctors to order a series of blood tests. One of those tests revealed that he had multiple myeloma, a rare type of blood cancer.
Despite the diagnosis, Kelley said he remains hopeful about his future and the treatment options available to him.
He also explained that he wanted to share the news publicly because being open about difficult experiences has helped him in the past.

He Plans to Keep Making Music
Kelley does not plan to step away from music.
The Lady A singer said he expects to continue working and performing during the early stages of his treatment. He also noted that the group has a new record coming soon and has Christmas shows planned for later this year.
Lady A is scheduled to perform during its This Winter’s Night Tour in December, with additional performances planned for early 2027.
Kelley said staying active, spending time with his family and continuing to do what he loves are important to him as he begins treatment.

Cassie Kelley appeared beside her husband during his announcement and expressed gratitude for the medical team caring for him in Nashville.
Lady A bandmates Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood have also publicly shown their support.
Scott shared an emotional message for Kelley and his family, while Haywood offered his support and encouragement following the announcement.
Fans and fellow country artists have also sent messages of support since Kelley revealed his diagnosis.
Kelley Says He Is Looking Ahead
Kelley acknowledged that the months ahead will bring difficult moments, but he remains focused on his family, music and treatment.
He has also drawn on lessons from his sobriety journey, approaching the situation one day at a time.
For now, Kelley says he feels hopeful and intends to continue living his life while receiving treatment.
