The King does it again.
Last night, George Strait set a new attendance record in his lengthy, legendary and illustrious career, playing for a sold-out crowd of 90,037 at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium in Death Valley. It was the first of their Death Valley Nights concert series, which Morgan Wallen will also headline this summer, and Strait’s was the first major concert in Death Valley since his Country Music Festival was held in the venue on March 28, 1999.
largest on record. Previously, the record-setting attendance occurred in October of 1999 when 86,092 fans attended the Clemson football game against Florida State. Clemson’s official capacity for football games is 81,500, but more than 9,000 seats were added to Frank Howard Field for the show, which was held “in the round” and featured a rotating stage in
Strait’s team shared news of the record on Instagram, along with a series of photos where you can see just how massive the crowd was… which made the logistics of quite everything else a total nightmare (to put it mildly) but of course, that’s at no fault to the King but a Clemson University problem and I digress…

I was lucky enough to attend the show, and it’s always a treat to see The King perform live and I don’t think I need to explain the icon he is… it’s just incredible how he continues to set these records and he puts on a truly incredible show that is second to absolutely no one.
He has an amazing band, his Ace in The Hole band, and considering his record-holding 60 #1 hits, the full showtime is full of chart-topping music and it simply doesn’t get any better:

Strait previously set the record for the largest ticketed concert attendance in US history when he played Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field, in College Station, Texas in June of 2024, with the attendance for that show was 110,905. Zach Bryan broke that record just a little over a year later when he took the stage in Ann Arbor, Michigan at Michigan Stadium in front of 112,000 people in September of 2025.
Before the King did it in 2024, you have to go all the way back to 1977 for the previous record-holding crowd, which was a show by the Grateful Dead at Raceway Park in New Jersey which attracted 107,019 Deadheads.
To be 73-years-young and still setting attendance records… King s***.
