Hannah Harper delivered a performance worth remembering during Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night on American Idol.
It was Rock & Roll Hall of Fame night on American Idol, and the Top 11 hopefuls were tasked with singing a song made famous by a Hall of Fame nominee. It was a tough ask for some of the contestants, who are comfortable in genres far from rock.
Hannah Harper won over America and the Idol judges with her mountain bluegrass sound early in the competition. She’s brought her unique voice to every performance ever since, continuing to prove why she is a frontrunner this season.
For her performance on Monday night (April 13), Harper was forced to step out of her comfort zone to sing a rock hit. She chose to sing Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 hit “Landslide.”
Hannah and the rest of the Top 11 were mentored this week by Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. During her mentoring session, Pat said, “Hannah’s like a little bird. She has a beautiful voice.”
“Hannah represents pureness in family and music,” Neil added.
When it came time to perform, Hannah left it all on the stage. For the first time since her audition, Hannah played her guitar as she sang. Her voice was the perfect fit for the Stevie Nicks-penned tune and earned nothing but praise for Hannah’s performance.
Carrie Underwood called it “absolutely gorgeous.”
“That was a classic song with a classic performance,” Lionel Richie said. “Amazing.”
Luke Bryan agreed, saying that Hannah’s performance made him forget that he was judging on American Idol. “It was like I was at a performance, an awards show. It was really special.”
