Lindsey Vonn Provides Update From Hospital Bed, Prepares For Additional Surgeries
Lindsey Vonn Shares Updates Following Horrific Crash
U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn revealed Friday (February 13) that she is expected to undergo at least two more surgeries after fracturing her left leg in a crash. The accident happened during the downhill competition at last weekend’s Winter Olympics.
After being airlifted to the hospital, her teammate Breezy Johnson pressed on and claimed the gold medal for Team USA.
One day after the accident, Vonn provided more details about her condition, confirming she had sustained a complicated fracture of her tibia. Although the break is stable, correcting it will involve several surgical procedures.
She had already completed her first surgery by the time she shared the update.

On Wednesday (February 11), Vonn then shared a series of photos from her hospital bed.
“I had my 3rd surgery today and it was successful,” she wrote. “Success today has a completely different meaning than it did a few days ago. I’m making progress and while it is slow, I know I’ll be ok.”
Vonn also expressed gratitude to her medical team, family, and fans for their unwavering support during her recovery. She then took a moment to celebrate her fellow competitors, offering a special shoutout to Team USA.
“Also, huge congrats to my teammates and all of the Team USA athletes who are out there inspiring me and giving me something to cheer for.”

Lindsey Vonn Expected To Undergo Additional Surgeries
In a new update posted to social media on Friday (February 13), Vonn, who said she’s had an extremely “hard few days,” shared she expects to have another surgery Saturday.
Depending on how that surgery goes, the Olympian can potentially leave Italy and return home, where she’ll need an additional operation.
“I’m finally feeling more like myself, but I have a long, long way to go,” Vonn said in the update.
Vonn thanked her community for showing up for her during this difficult time, saying she felt the love coming her way.
