A U-Haul truck appeared to drive into a crowd during a demonstration in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 11).

Multiple angles of different video footage posted on social media show numerous victims being hit.
The crowd was reportedly joined in solidarity with protesters in Iran, as crackdowns on unrest in the country have resulted in hundreds of deaths.
Mass demonstrations have been ongoing across the country since late December, initially sparked by an economic crisis and soaring inflation. Many Iranians are frustrated by high prices and worsening living conditions, and the unrest has broadened into wider anti-government demands.
The government has imposed a near-totalĀ internet and communications blackout, making independent verification difficult and limiting information flow from inside Iran.

The driver was taken into custody, however authorities have not yet released his identity.
