Private Jet Crashes Into Florida Neighborhood, Killing All Nine People on Board
A tragic plane crash in Florida has claimed the lives of nine people after a private jet went down near a residential neighborhood on Sunday, November 1.
The Learjet 60 was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it crashed in Palm Beach County, near the Greenacres community, at approximately 12:50 p.m. local time.
According to officials, all nine people aboard the aircraft were killed. The plane struck the ground near a residential area and erupted into a massive fireball, leaving a large crater at the crash site.
The moments before the crash were particularly alarming. Air traffic control recordings captured the pilot reporting moderate turbulence and icing conditions. The crew also reported precipitation and requested to climb to a higher altitude.
Shortly afterward, the aircraft began losing altitude rapidly. The pilot declared an emergency and issued a Mayday call as the situation deteriorated.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed the tragedy and asked the public to keep the victims’ families and loved ones in their prayers.
Authorities also evacuated approximately 600 residents from a nearby mobile home community as a precaution. Officials reported no immediate injuries or fatalities among people on the ground.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. The cause has not yet been determined.
The tragedy has left the local community shaken as investigators work to establish what caused the aircraft to plunge from the sky.
