Carrie Underwood wants her two children to understand that hard work means everything.
Carrie hasn’t always been on top of the world like she is today. She had to start from the bottom and work her way up. Most people know her story began when she auditioned for American Idol in 2005. She went on to win the entire competition at just 21 years old, and it ultimately launched a career that hasn’t slowed down since.
Over the years, just a few of Carrie’s accomplishments include 29 No. 1 singles, 8 Grammy Awards, and a spot as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
So, yes, Carrie knows a thing or two about what hard work can get you. That’s why when it comes to her two sons, Isaiah (11) and Jacob (7), she wants them to strive to do the same.

In an interview with Taste of Country, Carrie opened up about the type of parents she and her husband, former NFL player Mike Fisher, aim to be.
At the end of the day, they want their two sons to know that whatever their dreams may be, they can achieve them as long as they have a good work ethic.
“Whatever you do, just work hard at it,” she said. “That is to be respected, and it will never lead you astray. You might not be an overnight success, but only good things can come out of working really hard for the right things, so that’s what we want to teach them. I feel like more than anything we definitely want to plant seeds that were planted in us.”
Carrie went on to say that she and her husband were both inspired by seeing their own parents work hard to provide a comfortable life for their family. Now, they want their boys to grow up seeing that same example.
“We both grew up without… we had enough, but we weren’t in our position now, like our parents weren’t in our position. We saw them work really hard to give us what we needed and instill those hard working values in us, and I think that’s the biggest thing that we want to pass along to our boys,” Carrie added.
Does Carrie Underwood Want Her Boys To Follow In Her Footsteps?
Obviously, Carrie will support her sons no matter what they choose to do. But is she secretly hoping they follow in her footsteps and try out for a singing competition? Not exactly.
Back in March, the “Blown Away” singer made an appearance on The View to promote Season 24 of American Idol. During her time there, she shared that both of her sons have naturally developed a love for music, especially Isaiah.
Even so, it’s not something she wants to push on him, at least not while he’s still so young.
“He’s mini-me in so many ways, but I don’t think I would,” carrie said about letting him audition for a singing competition. “He would need to be older and more established in himself before I would give my blessing on getting into it.”
