Didn’t take long.
Earlier this week TMZ broke the news that Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie Xo, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, back on May 18 in Williamson County Chancery Court, just outside of Nashville.
Whiskey Riff obtained a copy of the divorce complaint that was filed by the “Save Me” singer, which reveals that the couple separated on May 9, a week and a half before the request for a divorce was filed. He cites “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for the divorce, which in Tennessee is a no-fault grounds for divorce that means that the parties agree on the terms of the separation.
“The Husband would respectfully show unto the Court that these parties are unable to live together successfully as Husband and Wife. Plaintiff charges that the parties have suffered irreconcilable differences as would entitle either of them to a divorce.”
Now, that language is largely statutory, meaning it’s just what they have to say in order to meet the legal requirements for an irreconcilable differences divorce, and may make the situation sound worse than it really is.
Until now, neither of them have spoken publicly about the divorce. But tonight, Bunnie dropped an episode of her Dumb Blonde Podcast in which she opened up about the situation – and revealed that Jelly Roll has already started dating.
Bunnie started by addressing internet rumors that Jelly is dating fellow singer Jessie Murph, with whom he’s teamed up in the past including on their duet “Wild Ones.”
“That is absolutely f—ing kind of disgusting, guys. … That’s a 20 year age gap, and that’s just disrespectful.”
But then she revealed that while he’s not dating Murph, he has already moved on to other relationships:
“Has my husband started dating? Yes, he has, and we’re happy for him.”
And later in the podcast, she addressed the fact that he was back on the market:
“Daddy Roll is probably in his finest season, right? Like, I mean, the man looks great. He’s feeling himself. He looks so good. He is healthier than he’s ever been. …
Jay is a little lover. He likes to snuggle and he likes to cuddle. …
My husband is ready to date. He is rearing and ready to go. He’s all hopped up on testosterone, let me tell you. And he’s ready to go.
He’s even started dating, which is great. I love that. His DMs are open. Go to freaking his Instagram … and go send that motherf—er a DM. Like, you guys don’t be scared. Shoot your shot. I will be the ex-wife and we’ll have a great time.”
Bunnie says that she’s ready to welcome anyone who “comes correct” – but also issued a warning:
“If you come correct and you are not being sneaky, if you come with respect and you’re not being sneaky and you’re not lying to him about anything, I will welcome you with open arms. But if you are a b—h who is lying straight up the first time you meet my husband…”
She stopped herself as she realized she was still calling him “her husband,” but reiterated that she only wants the best for Jelly Roll:
“He needs a really sweet girl who is normal and isn’t f—ing trying to be a social media f—ing influencer.”
