Jelly Roll Received The News That He Would Become The Opry’s Newest Member Back In December
Being invited to join the Grand Ole Opry as a member came as a complete shock to Jelly Roll.
The three-time Grammy winner was a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Wednesday, December 10, and during the interview, he was hit with the surprise.
At the end of the episode, Jelly Roll’s attention was directed to a television screen playing a pre-recorded video from country star Craig Morgan. In the clip, Morgan extended an official invitation for the “Save Me” singer to join the Opry family.
“I’ll never forget meeting you at the Grand Ole Opry and how much it meant to me to hear you say my music helped you get through some really tough times,” Craig said. “That’s one thing country music does really well. And who would’ve ever dreamed back then that I’d be back at the Opry House today to say Jelly Roll, you’re officially invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. It’s an honor to say welcome to the family, brother.”
Jelly Roll’s reaction was just as you’d expect from someone who received this opportunity of a lifetime. He threw off his headphones and burst into tears.

For those who don’t know, Craig Morgan’s invitation to Jelly Roll was a full-circle moment for the singer.
Jelly Roll’s Opry invite came just over four years after he made his debut at the venue, where he performed Morgan’s classic “Almost Home.”
His performance, along with a touching story of why the song means so much to him, caught Morgan’s attention, and he was later invited back to sing the song with him.
Jelly Roll has also shared a memory from before he was in the spotlight, when he attended one of Morgan’s shows at the Opry.
It was just after he had faced legal troubles, and he credits the performance for inspiring him to turn his life around and pursue his dreams as an artist.
When Will Jelly Roll’s Opry Induction Take Place?
On Thursday, February 19, the Grand Ole Opry confirmed that Jelly Roll won’t have to wait too long to officially make his dreams come true.
The singer’s induction ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 10.
He’ll also have the support of several country music friends who have joined the lineup for the night.
Lainey Wilson, Craig Morgan, ERNEST, and Leanne Morgan have all been confirmed to take the stage during the special event.
Given Jelly Roll and Morgan’s close connection over the years, it’s even possible they could share the stage for a duet.
