Dolly Parton’s Special Message Was Shared In Nashville
The CMA Foundation celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Music Teachers of Excellence program on Wednesday.
The program recognizes music teachers who go above and beyond to inspire their students and use music to make a difference in their communities.
This year’s class included 30 teachers from 12 states. Each honoree also received $5,000 to support their personal needs and their classrooms or programs.
The celebration took place at The Pinnacle in Nashville, with performances from several country and music stars.
But one of the most emotional moments of the night came before the performances even began.
Zac Brown Introduced Dolly’s Surprise Message
Zac Brown opened the ceremony by introducing a special video message from Dolly Parton.
The video had been recorded shortly before Dolly’s death.
Parton appeared on screen and warmly welcomed the teachers to Nashville. She also mentioned that many of them were staying at her new Songteller Hotel and visiting her Life of Many Colors Museum.
Dolly then spoke directly to the music teachers in the room.
She thanked them for their passion, patience and dedication to their students. She also emphasized the important role teachers play in inspiring the next generation through music.
Her message was especially emotional because Dolly died on August 25 at the age of 80.
