Riley Green Pulls Off a Stunning Move to Claim 15-Year-Old Singer on ‘The Voice’
Riley Green made a bold move during the latest Blind Auditions on The Voice after a 15-year-old singer delivered a performance that immediately caught his attention.
Riley Green Turns for Allie Rae Almost Instantly
Fifteen-year-old Allie Rae stepped onto the stage during Season 30 of The Voice and performed Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet.”
She barely got through the opening of the song before Riley Green turned his chair.
Kelly Clarkson followed soon after, while Queen Latifah also turned for the young singer.
The three coaches were clearly impressed by Rae’s performance.
Clarkson praised her voice and said she heard hints of Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss in her singing. Queen Latifah also praised the teenager, describing her voice as “exquisite.”
Riley Green Had One More Move
With three coaches competing for Rae, Green revealed that he had been waiting for the perfect moment to use a brand-new feature on the show.
Season 30 introduced the “First In” button, replacing the traditional “Block” button from previous seasons.
The rule is simple: if a coach is the first to turn their chair for an audition, they can use the button to automatically claim that singer for their team.
Each coach can use the powerful button only once during the Blind Auditions.
Green realized he had been the first coach to turn.
Then he pressed it.
Kelly Clarkson immediately reacted with disbelief as Green secured Rae for his team.
Why Riley Green Wanted Allie Rae
After the audition, Green explained why he decided to use his one “First In” opportunity on Rae.
He praised her talent and the way she transformed “Black Velvet” into something that blended blues, country and Americana.
Green said he especially liked that Rae had a unique style and that he could hear something different in her voice.
That was enough for Green to make his move.
Allie Rae Joins Team Riley
Rae’s audition became one of the memorable moments from the latest round of Blind Auditions.
At just 15 years old, she impressed three coaches and ultimately became part of Team Riley after Green used the season’s new “First In” button.
For Green, it was a carefully timed move that ensured another coach could not take the young singer away.
