Remembering Toby Keith’s Life & Legacy
Country music legend Toby Keith passed away on February 5, 2024 at just 62 years old. He first shared his diagnosis in 2021 and took a hiatus from performing to prioritize treatment and cherished moments with his loved ones.
Along with his legacy of music, Toby was a generous philanthropist, deeply committed to giving back to his community. He was also a devoted family man who cherished those closest to him.
The country star established the Toby Keith Foundation in 2006 with a mission to improve the lives of Oklahoma children battling cancer. According to the foundation, its goal is “to encourage the health and happiness of pediatric cancer patients and to support the OK Kids Korral.”
In 2014, the foundation opened OK Kids Korral, a cost-free home away from home for families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment at OU Medical Center, Stephenson Cancer Center, and other nearby medical facilities. The center provides lodging and support services, allowing families to stay close to their children during treatment without the burden of housing costs.
Toby’s Team Reminds Fans Of Circulating Scams Relating To The Late Country Star
Earlier this week, Toby’s team sent an urgent warning message to fans about fake social media accounts impersonating the late country star and his foundation.
While this is not the first time they have shared the alert, it seems the scams have become frequent enough to post out another message. Toby’s team reminded fans that they only communicate “through Toby’s official, verified social media accounts.”
“If you receive a message from another account claiming to be a member of Toby’s team, family or foundation, it is a scam,” the message read.
They then urged fans to “block” and “report” such profiles claiming to be the late singer.
“The ONLY way to make a donation to the Toby Keith Foundation is through their website. They will never message you asking for money, gift cards, or any other form of payment.”
