Another eventful show for Morgan Wallen.
He is wrapping up his Still the Problem Tour, with only two dates left after this weekend’s two-night run at the Big House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. And during night one, he had yet another phone came flying on stage, this time appearing to hit him right in the shin as he performed “I Got Better.”
His demeanor immediately change as he walked away, and then comes back to stare down the fan who just hit him with their phone. In the video, it appeared that Morgan was trying to point out the fan to security, but it’s not clear whether the offender was removed from the concert. But at this point, with how often this seems to happen, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he decides to move the pits further back on future tours – or eliminate the runway down the middle of the stadium to keep himself from being a target.
It’s really such a dumb thing for fans to do, not only because they could really hurt someone by doing it, but also because there’s a big chance that, if you do throw your phone on stage or somewhere in the crowd, you might never find it or you might break it. There’s a tiny chance Morgan could grab it and take a video and safely hand it back, but as we’ve seen time and again on this tour, that’s probably not gonna happen, but I digress…
It looked like after that whole ordeal, when Morgan was heading off stage after the show, he stopped and greeted fans by the tunnel. But he took a tumble, twisting his ankle and falling to the ground.
He shared the video on his Instagram stories, where you see him on the ground once he gets under the stadium tunnel and mentioning a “pop,” saying:
“Michigan, if I appear somewhat hobbled tonight, it’s cause I am.”
The injury didn’t appear to be too severe, because the show went on very normally last night:
He shared a photo his ankle… and it definitely looks like it wasn’t a pleasant feeling, but hopefully he didn’t have any sort of crazy injury as a result:
This whole tour has been very eventful, no doubt about that, I mean, something makes headlines every weekend it seems like… and for night two in Michigan, the headline was certainly that Morgan had the Hughes brothers, Jack and Quinn, who were star players for Team USA Hockey in this years Olympics, and Quinn was the one who scored the clutch overtime game-winner against Sweden in the quarterfinals:
Morgan also kicked off his next era of music on Friday with the new single “Been By Now,” his first release from his next (still unannounced) album. And during the Ann Arbor shows, he also took some time (between dodging cell phones) to reflect on leaving the I’m the Problem era behind:
“It’s a little bittersweet because we’re getting to the end of this tour and kinda the end of this album’s era, I’d guess you’d say. I ain’t really sure exactly what I’m gonna do next, but I do know that I’ve been in the studio, been making a lot of music. I’m excited about it.”
“Been By Now” was written by Morgan with Charlie Handsome, John Byron, Blake Pendergrass, Rocky Block, Taylor Phillips, and the song itself is right in Morgan’s wheelhouse in terms of it being about heartbreak and realizing a relationship is over, finding him coming to the realization that he’s in a relationship that’s no longer working… because “if it was meant to be, it we’d have been by now.” Part of him wants to make it work, they’re holding on as much as they can, but he knows that’s simply not their fate.
