Fans are coming to Carrie Underwood’s defense after rumors began circulating that she was struggling to sell tickets to her concerts.
It all started when a clip from Carrie’s show over the weekend began making the rounds online.
The now-viral video captures the singer performing her hit “Before He Cheats,” and when the camera pans toward the audience, it appears that there’s only a small number of fans watching.
This made a lot of people start to question the turnout, especially since they’re used to seeing Carrie perform in front of sold-out crowds.

That’s when the conversation really started to heat up. Some social media users claimed she had lost a majority of her fanbase because of politics.
Although she’s never openly shared where she stands politically, Carrie’s decision to perform at Donald Trump’s 2025 Presidential Inauguration created plenty of mixed reactions, and ultimately she did lose some fans in the process.
However, while some fans said they stopped supporting her because of this, others rallied behind her and became new supporters.
But when it comes to this recent appearance from Carrie, politics actually had nothing to do with it.
It turns out the claims surrounding the viral video were just rumors, and there’s a simple reason why the crowd looked much smaller.
Why Was There A Small Turnout At Carrie Underwood’s Recent Show?
In the video, Carrie was performing at Concert on the Course, which is a post-play live music event held each year during the John Deere Classic PGA Tour tournament in Silvis, Illinois.
That means the concert was actually a private event, and only people with tickets to the tournament could attend the performance. Because of that, the crowd size was already more limited compared to a typical Carrie Underwood concert.
On top of that, the third round of the John Deere Classic had been delayed about an hour earlier in the day due to weather.
That delay could’ve also played a role, since the free concert was pushed back and some fans may not have been able to stay.
Lots of fun on the course at the @JDCLASSIC this past weekend! Thanks again to all that came out! 🇺🇸

Going back to the original post that sparked these rumors, a community note has now been added to clarify the situation.
“These images are from a concert held as part of the John Deere Classic golf tournament, not from a Carrie Underwood concert,” the text states.
Fans of Carrie’s have also left responses in her defense. A few of those replies include:
“She was playing at a PGA golf tournament. This isn’t her normal crowd. Don’t believe everything you read online folks.”
“She finished her set singing in a sudden downpour, staying on stage with the fans despite the heavy rain that had everyone else running for dry cover.”
“While I don’t agree with her apparent politics, this is in my hometown and is for a golf tournament that proceeds go to charity for. So it’s a smaller crowd and most of the people are set up across the fairway out of the video. Just important information.”
Earlier this year, Carrie confirmed that she won’t be going on tour in 2026. However, she’s still making occasional smaller appearances in between her job as a judge on American Idol.
