Luke Bryan Is Speaking Up About The Trend Of Throwing Objects At Performers
Luke Bryan is no stranger to having objects thrown at him while performing on stage.
While singing his hit “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” last month, the 49-year-old country singer was struck in the face by a ball thrown from the crowd.
The moment was posted in a TikTok video, showing Bryan in the middle of singing when the ball suddenly hit him.
Bryan took the high road after it happened, seemingly annoyed but laughing off the situation and continued performing.
In a recent interview with the Bobby Bones Show, the country star discussed the ordeal, saying that the people who do these types of things are “showcasing” entitlement.
“It was this little beach ball thing. Like a hacky sack. When I’m sitting there singing, and I’m just doing my deal and it comes into my frame, obviously I flinched. It got me,” Bryan said.
“My official statement is people throw things at artists and they’re idiots. It’s the deterioration of the moral fabric of how your a** ought to act. This is not a new thing. That was a great thing to get thrown at me. It was a little beach ball. I’ve had $1,100 cell phones get thrown at me,” he continued.

Multiple Singers Have Objects Thrown At Them Onstage
While the phenomenon of throwing things on stage is nothing new, it does seem to be happening more frequently over the past few years.
In June 2023, a concertgoer threw a bracelet at “half of my hometown” singer Kelsea Ballerini, hitting her eye. Ballerini left the stage for a few minutes before she returned and encouraged her audience not to throw things.
Morgan Wallen also had a drink thrown at him during a concert. The fan who threw the drink was kicked out of the venue.
In July last year (2024), Wallen was performing his song “Cowgirls” during a show when a fan threw their cell phone at him. The phone hit Wallen’s shoulder and thankfully did not injure the singer.
Wallen picked up the phone and tossed it offstage, and then continued singing.
Luke Bryan Recovers From A Summer Illness
Aside from getting hit by flying objects, Bryan has also been battling illness this summer, which forced him to postpone several tour dates earlier this summer.
On June 19, the singer announced he needed time to recover, hitting pause on his tour. He’s now returned to the stage and shared that he was overcoming COVID.
“I got COVID. You can boo that s*** all you want, but I got it. I had to cancel some shows, and now I’m back. But I’m not a hundred percent cause it’s still kicking my a**. And you know, I don’t give a s***. When I can sing, I’m gonna sing. And when I can’t, y’all are gonna sing, all right? And you’re gonna see me hack. I can’t take any more medicine. I can’t do anything else, but just try to breathe,” Bryan told the crowd in Greenville, South Carolina.
Bryan admitted his voice still isn’t at full strength but he pushed through his set, clearly determined to give fans a great show.
In Birmingham, Alabama, the singer gave an additional update to the crowd.
“I’ve been having the old summer chest cold. So some notes I’m gonna hit, for the ones I can’t hit y’all do your little deal. And I’m gonna drink tequila, a little vodka, and sing my a** through all of it,” he shared.
