Actress Kelley Mack Died In Cincinnati On August 2

The entertainment world finds itself mourning the death of a talented young actress, producer, and voice-over artist, Kelley Mack.

USA Today reports that Kelley Mack passed away on August 2 in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 33.

Mack’s agent, Julie Smith, confirmed she died following a battle with glioma of the central nervous system. Mack shared her diagnosis in January, saying:

“I am very grateful to have such a supportive and loving family and boyfriend, who have been with me every second of this process. It has been a very emotional and challenging time, truly testing my mental fortitude, faith, and physical strength. They are so positive and we have a sense of calm knowing that my healing is taking place and we will overcome. This experience has brought me closer to God, and I am leaning on him and trust his plan for me.”

What Is Glioma?

The Mayo Clinic describes glioma as “a growth of cells that starts in the brain or spinal cord.” As the glioma grows, it forms a tumor. That tumor “can grow to press on brain or spinal cord tissue and cause symptoms. Symptoms depend on which part of the brain or spinal cord is affected.”

Some types of glioma become cancerous (also known as malignant). The Mayo Clinic states, “Malignant gliomas grow quickly and can invade healthy brain tissue.”

After Kelley Mack died, her sister, Kathryn Klebenow, shared a heartbreaking post on her Instagram page. She wrote:

“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.”

The actress’ family announced that her memorial service will take place on August 16 at the Glendale Lyceum in Glendale, Ohio. The family plans to hold a second service in Los Angeles at a future date.
