Granger Smith Gives Hope To Those Who Have Been Impacted By The Devastating Floods

Country singer Granger Smith posted a heartwarming message to his social media following the deadly flash floods in Central Texas last week.

The singer shared with his followers the good news of Christ, and the hope that they are never alone, even through this unthinkable tragedy.

“We have a savior, who is intimately familiar with sorrow,” Granger said. “One who suffered and died for his people so that through faith we, his people, could be set free from the fallen world once and for all. And that’s why we have hope.”

Granger also encouraged his followers that if they are experiencing grief from this devastating ordeal and want to talk, they could message him directly and he would be getting back to them.

Granger Is No Stranger To Deep Suffering & Losing A Child

On June 6, 2019, Granger and his wife experienced the unimaginable when their 3-year-old son passed away following a drowning accident.

Since losing River, his presence has continued to be a constant part of their lives. Though he’s no longer physically with them, his memory lives on in everything they do.

Granger even named his book after his son, a tribute to the lasting impact River has had on his heart. In 2013, the singer announced his farewell tour, sharing that he would be stepping away from country music to follow a new path in ministry.

“Today is Riv’s b-day. Amber and I don’t count the years. We’ll always know him as being three. That was the last birthday we shared with him,” Granger wrote in 2023. “You know—losing him just about killed me. On that grief journey, I left NO stone unturned to heal myself, but nothing helped until…everything changed. These last four years have been the wildest ride of my life, and yet I’ve mostly kept it to myself until now.”

The Country Star’s Inspirational Faith-Journey

Granger has dedicated his life to not only serving Christ but also helping others who are deeply suffering.

He often posts short reels on his personal social media, sharing Bible verses and giving encouraging words of hope.

After nearly two decades in the spotlight, the 44-year-old Texas native is now enrolled at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary as he steps into a new chapter of serving at his local church.

Granger expressed that while touring could reach many, his heart was drawn to personal ministry, and one-on-one pastoral care and discipleship.

“Country music gave me a platform,” he said. “But now I just want to glorify God in every part of my life—even if no one’s watching.”

Granger and his wife have created “The River Kelly Fund” in honor of their late son.
