One Dad Caught In The Texas Floods Left His Children A “Goodbye Voicemail”
A heroic father who was caught in the tragic flash flooding that hit Kerr County, Texas last week left a harrowing voicemail to his children before passing away.
61-year-old Jeff Ramsey, who was staying with his wife, Tanya, in their Airstream camper at the HTR RV Park when the river began to rise in the early hours of July 4, left separate voicemails for his children, Jake (24) and Rachel (23).
“Once they realized there was nothing they could do, my stepmom was on the phone with her mom while my dad made a call to me and my sister. We were asleep,” Jake explained. “He left us a message saying he was not going to make it and that he loved us so much, telling us goodbye.”
Jake said he could hear water rushing in the background as he was listening to his father’s final words to him.
“Buddy, I love you so much. It doesn’t look like we are going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her,” Jeff told Jake.
Jake recalled waking up in the early morning to the voicemail, saying it was something he will never forget.
Jeff then left a voicemail for Rachel, with the chilling words, “we’re dying,” being heard in the background.

Jeff Heroically Saves Other Lives In His Final Moments
Moments before floodwaters engulfed his Airstream camper, Jeff not only spent his final moments saying goodbye to his children, he also heroically saved the lives of others.
Jeff urgently called his mother-in-law, and brother, who were asleep in a cabin just 150 yards from the river. His warning woke them in time to flee, and that same cabin was later found fully submerged.
“He rescued them because they would have slept in and they would have washed away,” Jake recalled. “That cabin was destroyed, completely underwater. He saved their lives.”
Jake explained that that was simply the type of person Jeff was, as he lived a life deeply rooted in service to others, dedicating himself to supporting individuals with physical disabilities through a specialized gym.
“There are miracles happening in that gym all the time,” Jake said. “People walking who haven’t walked in years or since their accident. My dad always told me that it was his calling.”
