Bronny James Opens Up About Mental Health Struggles Following Cardiac Arrest Scare
Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA superstar LeBron James, has shared that he has been grappling with mental health challenges since experiencing a cardiac arrest in July last year. In a heartfelt statement shared via the Associated Press, Bronny reflected on his journey over the past couple of years.
“I’ve become resilient over these past couple of years fighting through injuries, mental illness, stuff like that,” he said. “Just, you know, coming in and working every day and staying the course.”
The 19-year-old athlete, who is working toward a return to the basketball court, emphasized the importance of consistency and gratitude in his recovery process.
“I’m just showing up every day, trying to get better every day, trying to learn every day, and playing my game every day. And I feel like that’s what is getting me to have fun and enjoy this sport that I love every day,” he shared.
Bronny expressed deep gratitude for the ability to continue playing basketball, acknowledging how close he came to losing the opportunity. “It’s a blessing to be able to play this sport that I love. There’s a chance I wasn’t going to be able to. So, I wake up and I’m thankful for that every day,” he added.
His candid comments come amid broader efforts to reduce the stigma around mental health challenges faced by athletes. Bronny’s resilience serves as an inspiration to fans and peers alike, as he continues his path back to competitive basketball.
