Two people were confirmed dead in a plane crash in Arizona.
First responders are still on the scene, and it is unclear if any additional casualties exist. Four people were involved in the crash, but there is no current information about the remaining individuals.
The tragic collision occurred at Marana Regional Airport, located near Tucson, Arizona, between two small planes that collided mid-air.
The aircrafts have been identified as Cessna 172S and Lancair 360 MK2. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which is investigating the incident, both are similar types of aircraft.
The crash happened around 8:30 AM, according to preliminary information.
The FAA identified the airport as a “Uncontrolled field.” This means that the airport did not have an operating air traffic control tower. Pilots communicate using a Common Traffic Advisory Frequency.
It is not known at this time why the collision occurred.
