Leicester City v Posh: Match Preview | Peterborough United

A look ahead to Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Leicester City at the Foxes training ground (12.30pm).

After just over two weeks of training, the Peterborough United squad are preparing for their first pre-season friendly of the campaign as Darren Ferguson’s men face Sky Bet Championship side Leicester City on Saturday 5th July (12.30pm).

The game is taking place at City’s state of the art training ground, but is not open to Posh fans with just a small amount of Foxes supporters invited by the hosts to attend.

It will prove to be a strong opening test for Posh, who have just concluded a five-day training camp at St. George’s Park, the home of the English Football Association’s national football centre.

TEAM NEWS

Ferguson has confirmed that he will utilise his full squad with the majority of players set to play for 45 minutes. Defender Rio Adebisi continues to work hard on his rehabilitation from a long-term injury and is not expected to return to selection until early September.

A number of youngsters, who have been part of the squad at St. George’s Park, could feature including Lucca Mendonca, Ollie Rose and Joe Andrews.

FROM THE MANAGER

“We are looking forward to the first game and it will be a good test for us. Obviously, it is a hard game to prepare for because they don’t currently have a manager, but it is all about fitness for us in any case.

“The players will get 45 minutes under their belts and that will be a good step forward. It has been an excellent week at St. George’s Park and we want to finish it off well,” Darren Ferguson said.

STREAMING DETAILS

The game is not open to Posh fans, however, there will be a stream for supporters to watch the game on, which is free of charge.

THE OPPOSITION

Leicester City were relegated from the Premier League last term and parted company with manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy last month. The Foxes will be under the guidance of former midfielder Andy King for the game against Posh and are likely to utilise the majority of their squad for the game, having only returned to pre-season training earlier this week.
