Elon Musk confirms public will ‘not be seeing’ Kanye West’s Twitter anymore as his account is deactivated
Kanye West deactivated his Twitter after a three-day tirade of anti-Semitic, misogynistic and racist comments before Elon Musk wrote that the public ‘won’t be seeing’ the musician’s account anymore.
The American rapper, 47, took a shot at his longtime rival Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl on Sunday night while peppering in more anti-Semitic sentiments.
Yet after the musician thanked Musk for ‘allowing me to vent’, the businessman appears to have shut down his account as he confirmed: ‘Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW [not safe for work]. You should not be seeing that anymore.’
Musk finally addressed West’s tirade three days after he began posting incessantly with a thread of offensive erratic comments.
In West’s final tweet on Sunday night he wrote: ‘I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent.’
He continued: ‘It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip.
‘Love all of you who gave me the energy and attention. To [sic] we connect again. Good afternoon and goodnight.’
On Sunday, West stressed he was ‘in a good space’ mentally and that making the controversial comments – which were condemned as racist, sexist, tone-deaf, misogynistic and ignorant by social media users and multiple celebrities – have left him with a sense of peace after venting.
Regarding Swift, he tweeted, ‘IF ITS ABOUT THE CULTURE… WHY ARE WE LETTING TAYLOR SWIFT BE SEEN ON TV SINGING A SONG ABOUT TAKING A BLACK MAN DOWN AND ACCUSING OF THINGS THAT CAN TAKE A BLACK MAN DOWN FOR LIFE.’
West was seemingly making reference to Taylor Swift at last week’s Grammys dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track Not Like Us.
Lamar did not come out unscathed, as West said of the Super Bowl Halftime headliner Kendrick Lamar, ‘KENDRICK IS BEING USED BY THESE WHITE PEOPLE AND JEWS AND SO AM I.’
Elsewhere, West released a bizarre Super Bowl ad promoting his fashion line Yeezy that raised eyebrows.
The strange, brief clip – was shot on West’s iPhone and appeared to have been taken at a dentist’s surgery.
West claimed he had to film the ad on his mobile phone after blowing his entire Super Bowl ad budget on his ‘new teeth’.
‘I spent all the money for the commercial on these new teeth,’ West said, smiling for the camera and wearing sunglasses. ‘So, once again, I had to shoot it on the iPhone.’
‘Um. Umm. Umm,’ West continued before definitively directing viewers to his brand’s website. ‘Go to Yeezy.com.’

West also appeared to reference his growing tension with Musk, as he responded to a user who alluded to the Tesla founder as a Nazi.
This comes just weeks after the billionaire generated controversy at President Donald Trump’s inauguration with what appeared to be a Nazi salute. (Musk denies the allegations.)
West replied to a user who linked to a story about Musk unfollowing West on X/Twitter, with the caption, ‘fake nazis when a real nazi walks in’.
West replied, ‘SINCE IM GETTING KICKED OFF TWITTER SOON. EVERYBODY IS A NAZI TILL A REAL NAZI PULLS UP.’
West also suggested that Musk, who owns X/Twitter, was sabotaging his social media efforts via shadow banning, and tamping down the number of views he was garnering with his stream of shock.
‘MY TWITTER REACH HAS BEEN LIMITED SO I AM NOT ALLOWED TO TREND DOING SUPER BOWL,’ he said. ‘I AM SETTING UP A DISCORD CHANEL ON MY WEBSITE… WELCOME TO AMERICA.’
Milo Yiannopoulos, who owns Tarantula – a talent management company that represents both West and his partner, Bianca Censori – confirmed that West was taking an indefinite break from the social media platform, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
‘Ye [West] has deactivated his X account for the time being,’ Yiannopoulos said on X/Twitter Sunday evening.
West’s spokesperson Yiannopoulos told Dailymail.com on Sunday via email, ‘We just want to be clear he deactivated and was not banned.’
Prior to deactivating his account, West said he ‘just saw a video of’ [rapper] Kodak Black looking worse for wear, and noticed he had been wearing a Donda chain from his Yeezy fashion line. West said in a subsequent clip that this led him to interpret it as a sign to board a flight to Florida to help his fellow musical artist.
Other artists West remarked on during his stream of tweets on Sunday included Travis Scott, R. Kelly and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
West’s latest mention of Swift comes after nearly 15 years of enmity between the recording artists, as the seeds of the feud between them were planted at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13, 2009, at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
In the infamous exchange, West infamously interrupted Swift during her victory speech for the Best Female Video award for You Belong With Me, which had been nominated against Beyonce’s Single Ladies.
West emerged on the stage and took the microphone from Swift, telling her, ‘Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish. But Beyonce had one of the best videos of all-time! One of the best videos of all-time.’
While the musical stars appeared to be on better terms in the years following, things blew up after the release of West’s 2016 song Famous.
West claimed at the time that Swift had given him her blessing to refer to her as a ‘B****’ in the song’s lyrics, in a reference to the VMAs incident.
Swift said she never made such an agreement, leading to a public feud with West after he and his former wife, Kim Kardashian, in July of 2016 released a call West and Swift had over the contents of the Famous song.
Kardashian, who split with West in 2021 and settled their divorce the following year, alluded to Swift as a snake upon the release of the call
She said in a tweet, ‘Wait it’s legit National Snake Day?!?!? They have holidays for everybody, I mean everything these days!’
